KLS Institute of Management Education & Research (KLS-IMER), Belagavi, successfully organized the KLS IMER Chess Tournament 2026 on 20th August 2026 at the KLS-IMER campus, Hindwadi, Belagavi. The tournament was organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports, KLS-IMER, in association with the Belgaum District Chess Association.

The tournament witnessed an enthusiastic participation of more than 130 chess players in the Inter-School and Open Age Categories. Players from different districts, including Belagavi, Hubballi, Davangere, Raichur, Bagalkot and Kolhapur, participated in the competition, making the event highly competitive and vibrant.

A total prize & tropies worth of ₹30,000 was distributed among the winners in recognition of their outstanding performances. Cash prizes, medals and merit certificates were presented to the deserving players, while every participant was encouraged with a participation certificate. Special awards were also presented to KLS students and staff who emerged as winners.

The entire event was coordinated by Shri P. S. Sankappanavar, Assistant Physical Education Director, KLS-IMER, whose dedicated efforts contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the tournament. KLS BOM Chairman Shri A.K. Tagare, Secretaries Shri V.M Deshpande, Shri S. V Ganachari and KLS IMER GC Chairman Shri U.N kalkundrikar & Dr. Arif Shaikh, Director IMER appreciated the young players and encourage them to participate in sports activities to keep the body and Mind Fit.
